History
Almost 40 years ago, the possibility of providing support for seniors to stay at home motivated some members of Kinsmen, in conjunction with the Boundary Health Unit and a local sorority, to create a local home support service.
From their modest beginnings in 1969 serving a handful of clients, the Delta Home Support Service Society has grown to provide services to well over 500 individuals—from all age sectors—each year in the communities of Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta.
Home support has become an essential ingredient in the overall health of our community.
Your grandparents may need help with personal care or managing medication in order to safely stay in their own home.
Your neighbour may need support for only an hour or two each week to help through a period of convalescence following surgery.
Or maybe a friend caring for a terminally ill partner could cope better with a few hours of respite each week.
A co-worker and single mother of two young children who is recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident might require child care and home maintenance help to get back on her feet.
These are the kinds of common and recurring instances of need, among many others, that Delta Home Support has been quietly—and professionally—addressing since 1969.
